‘Understanding the difference between solitude and loneliness is essential for the passage from the Recluse who is hostage to isolation and paranoia to the woman who values and grows from solitude.
When solitude is chosen, it is the foundation of spiritual life and regenerates the soul. It has many complexions: gentleness, wild intensity, introspection and contemplation, ecstasy, serenity, awe, a silent divine energy, inner and outer peace. Solitude does not remove us from suffering; it calls forth a sacrifice of parts of the self and asks something of us in order to connect us with something love means “that two solitudes protect and border and salute each other.” The experience of solitude can bring a sense of union, grounding relationships.
In contrast, loneliness often makes us feel abandoned, rejected, or lost. We feel victimised, desperate, and conflicted, a pawn of fate. A person can be lonelier in a group of people or with someone than she is by herself, which she most feels the pitying projections of other people, and the lonely child in her experiences shame. In loneliness are the seeds of its own healing, however, for anxiety and terror can be the threshold into awe as well as conscious self-understanding.’
– L S Leonard
Hello beautiful souls, Just a reminder that tomorrow will be the first Zoom group of the year. This will be at 12.30-1.45 UK time in the ‘Book Club’ group. You have to join the book club group for the link. The topic is ‘the difference between solitude and loneliness’. In this session we will read a passage from Linda Schierse Leonard’s book for the first five to ten minutes and then the rest of the session will be an open women’s circle to dive deep into the topic. You don’t have to have the book to join. I will also set aside a little space for us to talk about the full moon in Cancer this weekend and any new year’s reflections you want to share for accountability. I hope you can make it 🤍
Dreamy souls,
With Saturn retrograding in the sky right now Goal Setting seems to be on a lot of people’s minds so I’m sharing with you my Goal Setting template.
As you start this exercise you may find some areas difficult to think about or experience some feelings, sensations or behaviours. Gently notice what you experience and ask yourself what you need.
There are many ways to work towards achieving what you desire. Sometimes through simply just talking it all through, sometimes through deep guided energy release exercises, sometimes through active imagination, sometimes through support and accountability and sometimes through creative work (to name a few). I am very quick at reading people, hearing you, and opening the space to what you need so just message me if you want some time together. Either for just one session or as a focus over the summer.
Remember no dream is too big ✨

Once you learn how to use divination systems to their best advantage, you will appreciate the supportive role they can play in the cosmic dance that is your life.
Jasmine’s great aunt was a slavic fortune teller who practiced the art of Tasseomancy. Visiting her, and adopting the street cats for the summer, was what Jasmine looked forward to the most on her trips to Macedonia to visit her Baba as a child. Now Jasmine uses ancient methods of divination with applied synchronicity in her psychotherapy work to access the unconscious and develop greater reflection for the inner experience in a similar way as Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology.
Jasmine believes using Eastern approaches and methods of divination provide a more holistic viewpoint, reaching beyond the linear approaches and tunnel vision of the unassisted intellect to meaningful connection via (seemingly) random selection. At 13 years old Jasmine was given her first pack of Oracle Cards, Titania’s Fortune Cards, two decades later here is what she has in her collection…
Note, for a divination system to be a useful tool, it is important that the set of archetypes are balanced between light and shadow, as with the classical systems. This is so that they reflect the range of human experiences, including the darker tendencies. Also, it cannot be overemphasised that the archetypes are metaphorical, not literal.
Books
First let’s start with a couple of great books to read about divination and synchronicity. Also in the list will be a couple of books on the meanings of symbols but remember, as with dreams, start with what the symbol means to you first before seeing what other meanings are. The few symbol dictionaries we like are because they really do explore the symbol archetypally with their historical and cultural context.
Tarot and Oracle Cards
The Runes

Here are our runes and a wonderful little book by Lisa Peschel. According to Norse Mythology runes originated from early germanic tribes and an ancient alphabet in Scandinavia called the Futhark. Norse magic accesses the unconscious in the same way as the tarot by reflecting on the questions asked and the choices made by your subconscious mind.
Casting runes is the way to read them. This is done by tossing a few, or all, onto your sacred chosen cloth or ground and interpreting them from the pattern they have fallen into. Before you start this practice, it’s best to just spend a couple of months casting one by letting own fall out your bag onto your sacred space and learning it as your rune for the day. Then move up to a three-rune cast. Once you have the hang of it you can go up to a nine-rune cast which is a magical number in Norse mythology. Another way of casting is counting the number of days from the last full moon and casting that many runes. The full moon is all about birth so when you cast your runes imagine the magic birthing out their womb pouch into the outer world.
You can buy pre-made runes online or you can make your own with wood. The carving or painting of the symbols is part of the magic. Making your own medicine bag out of fabric that has meaning to you is also something you can consider.
Dowsing with Pendulums
Pendulums promote healing with the process of Dowsing. Dowsing connects to invisible energies and unconscious thoughts and feelings. Here are some pendulums from our collection all charged on the dark moon for Crone energy. The Crone Goddess Archetype is the keeper of mysteries, psychic powers and soul magic.
To use your pendulum place the hoop at the top like a ring on your middle finger of your left hand. Focus your intention on the wolf pendant and then place your right hand, palm facing up, under the crystal and begin to calibrate it for your session.
To calibrate it ask the pendulum to tell you it’s direction for yes and then tell you it’s direction for no. The answers will be different to each other, usually one answer is a circle and one answer is a swinging from side to side. It could also be that one answer swings horizontally and one vertically, or that one circle is clockwise and the other is anti clockwise. Once you’ve understood your calibration, test it with some simple questions like ‘Is my name ~?’ ‘Do I live in ~?’. It may feel like you are unconsciously moving it but these inner movements are a reflection of your inner experience. Over time you will learn to trust your pendulum.
Once your pendulum is working you can begin asking more important questions either in the same way as asking the simple yes and no questions or you can try these other ways:

Blue Goldstone Pendulum is made with Blue Goldstone, Wolf Medicine and Spirit Bird. Blue Goldstone is one of the best crystals for empaths and dealing with hypersensitivity. It is gently uplifting, builds energy and increases confidence. It also assists with communication and is associated with the Throat Chakra. It encourages acceptance of who we are and helps us no longer deny our truth. Spirit Bird brings us into connection with Spirit and is a wonderful channel for the higher realms to connect with us through the pendulum. It is also associated with higher knowledge, like the Wolf. Wolf Medicine is also medicine of the soul. The spirit of Wolf helps people heal internally, connect with their instincts and intuition.
All pendulums will be packaged in Nurse The Soul pouches, same as necklaces and bracelets.

In one of our book clubs we are reading about death and separation, in alchemy this is known as ‘mortificatio’ and ‘separatio’.
To work more deeply with this energy you can connect with this deeply moving mortificatio song. Mortificatio, meaning killing and death, is the stage in alchemy before the whitening.

In native american culture buffalo was dismembered (separated) and bones were used for marrow, skins for tipis and moccasins and water bags, hooves for cups, fat as soap, tongue as a hairbrush, tail as a flyswat and even dried buffalo dung was used for fires. Buffalo symbolises abundance, it gives life, but it has to die in order to give.
Remember, it is important to stay with the theme of death and darkness before running towards the light. Be patient as you dismember yourself. Sow your seeds deep into the dark, wet, soil and the abundant harvest will come. The more we go into our darkness, and into our own shadow, the more we will be able to access our light. It is important to not bypass the depth of this stage. We must go deeper into our shadow than we have ever gone before, and to go further we must stay with it when it calls.
I find reading about Inanna’s descent into the underworld very soothing when I am moving through mortificatio. I take my time feeling my way through what seven parts of myself I want to leave behind as Inanna passes through the seven gates and removes her seven layers. If I am bleeding during this stage I collect my blood in a moon cup and pour it on the soil as a ritual to honour the shadow side of fertility and to receive blessings from the earth mother.
